This asos jumpsuit has been making the instagram rounds and for good reason. It's a total cutie and super comfy! I'm mildly obsessed with jumpsuits at the moment. I never thought I'd feel more comfortable in a jumpsuit than in anything else. If I'm wearing a comfy jumpsuit I can walk around all day running errands, sight seeing or doing spontaneous dance breaks. I just bought my 6th jumpsuit since the summer and I see no end in sight.
Well, actually *pushes up thick glasses with index finger*, the end is near. This brings me to the discussion of capsule wardrobes. If you aren't familiar, check out these guides here and here. Basically, a capsule wardrobe is an effort to minimize your wardrobe to only 30-ish pieces of clothing that you love and that you wear for 3 months (or a season). During this time you mix and match your same 30 pieces and avoid any more shopping. TUN TUN TUNNNNN. Yep, NO SHOPPING.
I've always been intrigued by the idea of a capsule wardrobe but when I initially heard about it a couple of years ago I thought "I can't do that, I looooove to shop, I NEED TO SHOP!" But, alas, the time as come where budgets and saving money is much more of a priority as Dave and I look to make a couple of bigger home renovations and travel more. So, here I am on the capsule wardrobe train and I'm actually very excited. I've noticed as I've gotten older that I will gravitate to my same few pieces leaving a large chunk of my closet untouched. And so, at the end of summer I sold several bags of clothes I never wore to a consignment shop and freed up space in my closet. I still need to put my summer clothes away in a seasonal storage box but that will happen this weekend.
I'm nearly done compiling my capsule for fall and I'm really optimistic about it. I actually surprised myself with some of the new pieces I chose to add to my existing fall suite but I feel like picking some more fun/loud/funky pieces will help me keep my looks interesting throughout the season. I'm hopeful I won't get bored and my wallet will be fuller- wouldn't that be, just like, the best? Wish me luck!
Have you ever done a capsule wardrobe? Was it life changing or a total flop? Let me know, I'd love to hear!
