Last weekend D and I took our annual trip to St. Louis and it was great for a lot of reasons but mainly the freaking weather! It was in the 70's most days and the nights got cool enough for a thick jacket, so lovely. The high today was 99, not cool, Austin, NOT COOL. I love going to the midwest in the fall to get a reminder of what fall ACTUALLY looks like. This trip we went to a day of LouFest for the first time, saw two baseball games, ate some good food, found a great coffee shop and an awesome record store. We basically did all our favorite things and got to see some of Dave's old college friends too. Lou Fest was a little (by the end of the night a lot) muddy because of heavy rain the night before but nobody in our crew fell or lost a shoe and we saw some great bands, so, go us! It also got me really excited for ACL in a couple of weeks! We lost both baseball games but we drowned our sorrows in watery beer and, later, gluten free cookies at our hotel so not all was lost there.
If you're ever in St. Louis: see a baseball game (cuz, Go Cards duh!), eat at Mom's Deli (life changing), Blueprint Coffee (coffee is great and they have healthy food options), check out the Moonrise Hotel rooftop bar (we've stayed at this cute hotel a couple of times now and the bar is definitely a fun hangout) and if you love vinyl check out Euclid Records (they have a "leftovers from record store day" section where I found the re-release of 'Soviet Kitsch' exclusive that Regina put out this year- big score!).
