My sxsw was a success; per usual there was good food, plenty of drinks (mostly free- yay! free stuff), and I discovered some new artists! A few highlights were seeing Kacey Musgraves, Rayland Baxter and John Moreland at the Spotifyhouse and the Seratones and Robert Ellis at South by San Jose.
Rayland Baxter- so groovy, new favorite.
Seratones, so much dance-able rock 'n roll!
Mmmm, Lobster rolls on Willie Nelson's Ranch, can't beat it.
One of my favorite sxsw events for the past few years has been a little festival (renamed this year to Luck Reunion) held on Willie Nelson's Ranch in Luck, TX. It's out in the beautiful hill country and there's always tons of great artists and lots of great sponsors (which translates to lots of free drinks and swag) and great food trucks. This year the line up was awesome and Kacey Musgraves was set to be the surprise special performance towards the end of the night bookended by Jenny Lewis and Lucius BUT half way thru the all day event a storm rolled in and most of the rest of the performances were cancelled. Boo! But, we still had a fun time and we ate lobster rolls so not all was lost.
Love this lady so much, waiting in line for an hour and then waiting a 3 more until she went on was totally worth it. So lucky I got to see her in Dallas last month too!
Annnnnd, here's a picture of Biff…looking very unimpressed with all the SXSW hubbub. I love this little nugget and my favorite is embarrassing him with photos on the daily.
Thank you for reading!
