You guys ready for a ramble-y post? Last week we celebrated this goober's birthday and it was a good/ a little bit of a crazy one. We had tickets to two Cardinals Baseball games in Houston on Tuesday and Wednesday (his actual birthday) so we planned to hit the road early-ish on Tuesday. Our car had other plans (eye roll emoji)... as soon as we were ready to go our fairly new car just would not start. The timing could not have been more annoying. We, when I say "we" I do actually mean the birthday boy, tried for a couple of hours (in the pouring rain) to figure out what was wrong and jump it, check fuses etc. with no luck. Since our second car is old and is a little shady in the rain, we decided to rent a car to feel safe on our 3 hour drive. The rental place "upgraded" us to a minivan which was pretty hilarious. Once we were finally on the road, 3 hours after we had planned to be and in the middle of a crazy storm, we tried our best to get ourselves out of the funk of being bummed by the car issue and try to enjoy the next couple of days. Spoiler: we did! The baseball games (which the Cardinals won) were super fun and we got to spend time with family that lives near Houston so it all worked out. But we really could've done with out the car stress and the rental car bill, universe!!
On the weekend we continued the party and went to Fixe for dinner. It was our first time there but we had heard great things and it did not disappoint. Fixe is basically fancy southern food and everything we had including the bourbon was delicious. The highlight was definitely the biscuit starter, best biscuits either of us have ever had for sure. Next time we go we'll probably just order bunch of biscuits and drinks and we'll be happy as can be.
Last year, Dave had a crazy birthday too (his whole office was laid off) and when I reminded D of that he told me horror stories (ok, that's being a little dramatic) about some of his past birthdays and basically convinced me that his birthday is mildly cursed! Next year, I'm wrapping him in bubble wrap and we're staying home!
Just to gush for a second about Dave because it's really really easy to and it's his birthday so I wouldn't be a good wife if I didn't on some public format right?... He sees the good in everything (like for real, he's taught me a lot about this), has the best manners (like a southern gentleman to the max), is so giving, makes me laugh everyday, works so incredibly hard, unwaveringly supports and believes in me (he's the biggest reason why this blog even exists!), is the best travel and life partner. Also, he rubs my head every single night to help me get to sleep, it's the sweetest freaking thing. Ah, I've got a good one guys, a really good one.
