I finally cleaned my craft room (I am a SUPER messy crafter and cook for that matter, my poor husband) the other day and it got me thinking about how much I love this space but also about a few things that are still on my wish list that will make this space feel just right. I thought I'd share before this space looks like a bomb exploded again...
When we bought this house, this room was intended to be a formal dining room but we're not "formal dining" people so we made it into my craft room. I love it SO much. It's come a long way since we first moved in, I don't have any "before" photos but just picture "builders beige" paint and an ugly brushed silver chandelier. The first thing I did was paint all the walls white and then I hand stamped black polka dots using the cork from a champagne bottle. This was a HUGE accomplishment for me because another fun fact about me is I HATE PAINTING. I'm a huge baby about painting- my husband can attest. It's kind of the worst, ever. I think this room took me two weekends to finish because I stopped for lots of snacks and dance breaks (cue Brandy and Monica's "The Boy is Mine"). But, I feel like it paid off (even though the dots may be uneven here and there, that's what you get when you "wing it"!) and, bonus, I don't want to change it already so that's a win.
Biffy loves this room especially when he sits with me on my office chair (which isn't pictured because it's a big brown eyesore).
Craft room wish list:
Also, I feel like a perfect way to really put my stamp on this room is by including a self-portrait. But, not just any 'ole self-portrait. Like, the most badass monster portrait that my friend Elissa illustrated for me just after my wedding. I'm basically "Queen B," equipped with a badass beehive, stinger and honeycomb lips. Ah-I love this picture so much. She made one for Dave that's equally awesome (his is bear themed) and we currently have them both up in our room over our bed. But, I think it's just TOO special not to showcase in a second spot of the house as well(it's a digital print so I can print as many as I want…oh! now there's an idea). I'll probably display it where you see the "B" letter in the photos above. Now, to find an awesome frame!
Can't wait to add some of those wish list items to this room and share the finished space. It's seriously my happy place and I'm really happy to share it here with you!
